Louisville

A vibrant small town that has become one of the most sought-after places to live for families thanks to its excellent schools, friendly atmosphere, and historic downtown.

Welcome to Louisville

Combining small-town hospitality with a progressive, vibrant community, Louisville residents take pride in their town, and that shows in their friendly, neighborly outlook. Despite having a relatively small population of only about 20,000, Louisville is packed with an eclectic selection of wonderful eateries and boutiques.

Historic Downtown Louisville and Main Street brim with nostalgia and whimsy, paying homage to the city's heritage and forming the foundation for a modern community. Over the past decade, Louisville has been under the spotlight more than once after being named one of the best places to raise a family in the country by Family Circle in 2012 and one of the best places to live in 2013 by Money Magazine.

What to Love

People & Lifestyle

An optimal place to live thanks to its quick commute to Boulder, small-town hospital, and excellent schools, Louisville is considered one of the best Colorado suburbs, particularly for families. Louisville's public schools are part of the exemplary Boulder Valley School District, and parents and teachers rave about the school system.

Add a lovely, walkable downtown district, proximity to the mountains, and an abundance of fun town events like the summertime Street Faire, and it's easy to see why so many people have fallen in love with this inviting, relaxing town. The people are friendly and welcoming, the neighborhoods are safe, and there are lots of open spaces, parks, and hiking trails, which often boast tremendous views of the surrounding mountainscape.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Locally owned and operated clothing boutique
Eleanor and Hobbs is nestled in the heart of historic Downtown Louisville. Here you can find a curated range of women's clothing, home goods, accessories, and more. Shopping for your kids? Pitter Patter on Main Street offers an amazing collection of baby and children's clothing, accessories, and gifts.

The divine scent of freshly baked pies and cookies might lure you down Main Street to neighborhood staple Huckleberry Cafe and Bakery. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Huckleberry is a local favorite for creative comfort food with a modern twist. Also located on Main Street is the Moxie Bread Company, a charming bakery featuring lunchtime dishes and morning pastries, plus outdoor seating and quiet nooks.

If ice cream is more your style, head to Sweet Cow on Front Street for your pick of classic and unique ice cream flavors, which vary from traditional strawberry to oatmeal cookie!

For something savory, try Lulu's BBQ, a casual smoked meat eatery with your choice of sumptuous Southern side dishes. Customer favorites include their mac & cheese, garlic potatoes, coleslaw, and baked beans. And their cornbread is an absolute must! Lucky Pie Pizza & Taphouse boasts a rustic Italian menu, and patrons are invited to sit inside their industrial-themed interior. Pair your delicious pie with a craft beer.

Foodies craving ethnic cuisine should visit Busaba for authentic Thai specialties like yellow curry with chicken or crab rangoon. Their menu also caters to gluten-free and vegan guests with a multitude of choices available!

Things to Do

While Louisville residents are proud of their city's quaint, small-town vibe, they are conveniently located within walking distance to stores like Target, Michael's, Lowes, and Home Depot. You'll also find many exemplary schools within the town perimeters, as well as necessary community services like the local recreation center, public library, and the police department.

On eight summertime Friday evenings, friends and family unite for a magical few hours at the Street Faire. It's a lively, fantastic community event that unites everyone to enjoy live music and dancing.

Adrenaline junkies and adventurers alike frequent the local rock climbing gym, EVO Rock + Fitness. Dedicated to helping climbers strengthen and evolve so they're prepared to make their way through the mountainous terrain of the nearby town of Boulder, EVO sponsors everything from yoga to fitness to bouldering classes, all of which are included in the membership package.

Speaking of adventures, while Louisville might not be as renowned as Boulder for hiking, this city isn't without its own extensive set of hiking, mountain biking, and running trails, including the Davidson Mesa Loop Trail, the Meadowlark Trail, the Dry Creek Trail, the Dirty Bismarck Loop Trail, the Hecla Lake to Waneka Lake Loop and many more.

Schools

There are six public schools and six private schools spread throughout Louisville. Also nearby are several esteemed high education institutions such as the private Naropa University, named for the 11th-century Indian Buddhist sage Naropa.
