Longmont

Fun city with a lively walkable downtown, lots of hometown pride, and a thriving tech scene.

Welcome to Longmont

Longmont often gets overlooked in favor of the much-larger Denver and Boulder, but despite Longmont's middling size, it has grown tremendously over the past decade. Today, Longmont is known for its innovative tech scene, vibrant, walkable downtown, and abundance of craft breweries and unique eateries.

Significant tech companies like Seagate and Micron Technology have set up shop in Longmont alongside a number of startups, making it easy to find tech-focused jobs in the city. For outdoor enthusiasts, Longmont is home to the beautiful Union Reservoir, which offers more than 700 acres of kayaking, fishing, camping, and more. Living in a gorgeous, thriving city with lots of entertainment options, it's no wonder Longmont residents are filled with hometown pride!

What to Love

People & Lifestyle

Longmont is one of the most diverse Colorado suburbs and boasts some of the best public schools and resources for young professionals. Residents can live a more affordable lifestyle than in Boulder and Denver while still living close to the mountains. Longmont strikes a nice balance for those who prefer a laidback way of life while still having access to big-city amenities.

You can enjoy a brisk walk through downtown and visit the local farmers market on a Saturday, and then take a short drive to one of the bigger cities to enjoy the active nightlife there. Longmont offers residents a fantastic community full of friendly, accommodating people and plenty of job opportunities, recreation, and affordable housing.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Cheese Importers doubles as a neighborhood staple and Colorado's premier cheese shop. Established in 1976, Cheese Importers is a family-owned restaurant steeped in French market experience and tradition.

For a delicious communal meal with family and friends, visit the easygoing Next Door American Eatery. Here you'll dine on farm-to-table meals and craft beers in a cozy space. The Post Brewing Company is known for its succulent, crispy hot chicken and family-style comfort food. Local beer aficionados can get their fill of award-winning craft beers curated to accompany their meal.

Of the many fantastic attributes of life in Longmont, the variety of restaurants is perhaps one of the best. Whether you like old-school Italian, Mexican, or pizza, you're sure to find something to delight your palate. Sip margaritas and chow down on street tacos at Jefe's, a longtime Longmont taqueria known for their affordable prices and excellent Mexican cuisine.

If Mexican food isn't to your liking, Rosalee's Pizzeria is a classic pizza joint complete with outdoor seating and a pinball machine. Lefty's Gourmet Pizza and Ice Cream is another great option for fresh pie. As for the Italian offerings, internationally acclaimed Chef Marco Monnanni cooks authentic Italian cuisine to his guests at Caprese Trattoria. Longmont even boasts its own BBQ restaurant at Smokin' Dave's BBQ & Brew, a relaxed, family-owned eatery on Main Street.

Longmont is also home to several small, trendy gastropubs and taverns such as the West Side Tavern, a local watering hole known for its craft cocktails and fresh daily cuisine, including king crab legs with corn on the cob.

The Roost is more rustic and attracts night owls with its rooftop bar, live music, and pub grub. Unpretentious and laidback, the Long Peaks Pub & Taphouse is known for its affordable prices, five-star service, and award-winning craft beers (which have won medals worldwide, including at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver).

Early risers will love Le Peep, a casual breakfast, brunch, and lunch chain serving homey American fare and coffee drinks.

Things to Do

The
Boulder County Farmers Markets are produce-only markets supported by local farmers and ranchers who grow what they sell. These markets promote health and wellness to residents while also boosting sustainable agriculture and supporting the economy. The Saturday Longmont Farmers' Market runs from May to November and often hosts live music and artisan shows alongside their traditional vendor setup.

Do you have a furry friend who loves to accompany you on hikes? The Union Reservoir Nature Area is a great place to bring your dog. The reservoir itself is a breathtaking 736-acre body of water that provides an oasis for an abundance of recreational activities. Carved out during the last glacial age, this natural lake is one of only a handful in Colorado.

Not only is highly-rated the Boulder County Fairgrounds a great place to go camping year-round, but there’s also generally always some festivity or event happening in the area, including the Boulder County Fair.

The Get Air Trampoline Park on Ken Pratt Boulevard makes for an easy, fun way to spend a weekend afternoon with your kids. Specializing in family-friendly fun, this indoor trampoline park features wall-to-wall trampolines, ninja obstacles, and much more.

Schools

The Boulder County Campus of Front Range Community College is located in Longmont alongside the St. Vrain Valley School District and several private schools.
